To Help you Pray this month for your Local Mosque Community.

I was born in Aleppo, Syria in a simple, Islamic educated family who practiced Islamic rituals and taught me to do the same. In 1994, at the age of 25, I left Syria to find work in Lebanon.

In March of 1995, I experienced a problem with my older brother at work. When I told a friend about it, he responded that Jesus Christ had said that “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand" (Matthew 12:25).

This caused me to wonder so I asked him “Who is this Jesus Christ”? He was unable to answer but he referred me to his friend who started to tell me more.  I was eager to hear but I was trying to show him that Christians are wrong in their beliefs. However, he said two things that changed my life! Number one, this was the first time I heard that God is Love. The second one is that it's not about my family being Christian or not; it is about accepting Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord.  After this he told me to go to church in Beirut (Ras Beirut Baptist Church).  Interestingly I had already been going there for a few months!  But now I knew that I needed to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour!  This I did and I was baptized on September 10, 1995.

After that I felt God’s calling to serve Him. In 1997, I began studying theology at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in Lebanon as a part-time student as I was having to work as well.  In 2009, I graduated!

I have a passion to reach non-believers, including Muslims (as I understand how it is for them).  I am called to serve God anywhere and I am ready to do that.  I will continue studying for an MA degree in Missions.

Prayer Points:

  • Syrian Canadians refers to Canadians who claim Syrian ancestry and newcomers who have Syrian citizenship. According to the 2016 Census, there were 77,050 Syrian Canadians. Approximately 25,000 Syrian refugees landed between January 1, 2015 and May 10, 2016 and were still living in Canada on Census Day. Please pray for God to reveal Himself to each one of them.
  • Pray for Christian organizations ministering among the Syrian population in your city and throughout Canada.
  • Pray for those who have found Christ out of Islam, to be fruitful and effective in their interaction with those who have not yet found Christ.

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength and all your mind. And your neighbor as yourself.
