To Help you Pray this month for your Local Mosque Community.

I'm a young Iranian girl who came to Canada to study here. I got to know Samira, a new Iranian believer who herself came to know Christ through the Persian ministry in our city, and Samira shared her new faith with me.

I told Samira about the horrible encounters I had in Iran with Islamic morality police. One day, when I was walking in a shopping mall, the Islamic morality police cut my long hair with scissors because my hair was showing under my scarf. The Islamic morality police then took me and many other women to the police station and photographed and fingerprinted us, just like criminals, for not covering our hair according to Islamic laws. The Islamic morality police then made us sign a written statement to promise that we would always observe the Islamic dress code. This was the most traumatic experience in my life, and I would never forget it.

Back home, I had one Christian friend in school. Her name was Karen. Karen invited me to go to church with her. At Karen's church, I noticed how Christians loved one another, and I heard the sermon which was also about God's love and forgiveness. My heart was touched by the truth of the Gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit. After I came to Canada, and after hearing Samira's story of salvation, I decided to give my heart to Christ. I received some books to read and had many meetings with Christians from a local ministry in my city, in which they explained the basic doctrines of the Christian faith to me.

By God's grace, and through the power of the Holy Spirit and through the efforts of another new disciple (Samira), this local community of believers lead me to the Lord! On Sunday, August 21, I decided to make a public declaration of my faith in Jesus in the waters of baptism. Praise God for my new life in Him!

Farsi-Speaking Persian Muslims in Canada

From the Pray for The Nations (P4N) website

Iranians started coming to Canada in the 1980’s because of the 1979 Iranian Revolution. From 2011-2016, Canada has seen about 42,000 Iranians migrating to Canada. Majority of Iranians came from urban areas; this is why a vast majority of them settle in the GTA (app 250,000).

Prayer Items:

  • Ask God to raise up Jesus followers to meet Iranians, get the good news to them, and read the Bible with them.
  • Many Iranians want to return to their ancient Zoroastrian religion because of the failure of Islam in their country to satisfy their deepest needs and disillusionment; pray for Jesus to communicate to Iranians through dreams and visions to draw them to Himself.
  • There is a lot of division/disunity among Iranians, including among believers. Pray for the Spirit of God to bring healing, peace, and unity to the believers, including the pastoral leaders.
  • There has been considerable positive response to the good news among Iranians and it is reaching back to Iran itself - pray that this multiplies and transforms Iran.

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength and all your mind. And your neighbor as yourself.
